Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in Puy de-Domme, France on August 9 1976 the oldest of four children. Her parents who were dental surgeons as well as a teacher recognized and supported her interest in the theatre and dramatic arts at an early age, which overcame her initial ambition to become a primatologist due to her obsession with monkeys. As a young woman the rise to fame was quick and filled with first-time achievement. In 1998 after her studies, she participated in the French talent-scouting TV programme Jeunes Premiers sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to launching the journey to become an actor. Tautou went to the Institut Catholique de Paris, and she attended church as a young girl. However she has now distanced herself with this background. Tautou claims to be not an official Catholic. Apart from acting, Tautou pursued modelling and was the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. Additionally, she is a keen love of photography. Recently, she produced an exhibition of her photography at the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. She focuses her photography on celebrity, fame and the public that scrutinised her since her rise to fame with Amelie. In addition, there are several photographs that show herself. Audrey Tautou rose to fame and acclaim with her key role in Le Fabuleux Destin in the film d'Amelie Pouulain. Amelie has been a worldwide box office smash and was recognized by numerous awards shows across the globe. Amelie is the top grossing French language movie to date in the US. The film's success led to a huge increase in production. Tautou went on to appear in many films which included British dramatics, such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles. In addition, she was a part of Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
